Abstract
This article focuses on a clinical trial conducted in Esfahan, Iran, investigating the effects of ginger (Zingiber officinale) supplementation on patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS). The 12-week double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study found that ginger supplementation significantly improved disability scores, physical and psychological quality of life, and reduced serum levels of neurofilament light chain (NfL), interleukin-17 (IL-17), and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), while no significant changes were observed in body mass index (BMI) or matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). The research, supported by Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, suggests that ginger may serve as an effective adjuvant therapy for relapsing-remitting MS.
