Abstract
The article focuses on two clinical studies related to endocrine and gastrointestinal disorders. The first study investigates the impact of the Mediterranean diet on patients with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune thyroid disorder, demonstrating significant reductions in thyroid autoantibodies, improvements in thyroid function tests, and decreases in body mass index after 12 weeks of dietary intervention alongside stable Levothyroxine therapy. The second study evaluates the effects of peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) on esophageal motility in achalasia patients, showing that POEM significantly lowers lower esophageal sphincter pressure and improves symptoms with favorable short- and medium-term outcomes. Both studies suggest these interventions as promising, safe, and effective complementary treatments, while recommending further research for confirmation.
