Abstract

The article focuses on the use of point-of-care ultrasound as a diagnostic and management tool for diving accidents with pulmonary symptoms in isolated or maritime environments. It presents a clinical case involving a military diver and proposes an ultrasound-based triage algorithm to assist emergency health care providers in diagnosing conditions such as pulmonary immersion edema, ruling out contraindications to hyperbaric treatment, and guiding on-site therapeutic decisions. The approach emphasizes the importance of ultrasound training for reliable diagnosis and highlights its potential to reduce risky patient transfers by enabling immediate, informed care in the field.
