Abstract

The article focuses on the uncertainties highlighted in the latest report by the U.N. International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) regarding climate change impacts. While the report confirms the unequivocal reality of global warming and its associated catastrophic events, it emphasizes "known unknowns"—potential abrupt and irreversible changes such as the possible collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) and uncertain sea-level rise projections that could reach up to 2 meters by 2100. These tipping points could drastically alter ecosystems, regional climates, and human activities, with increasing unpredictability as climate change progresses. The report underscores the urgency of understanding these risks before global warming surpasses the critical 1.5°C threshold.
