On a new specimen of the rare deep-sea species Aulastomatomorpha phospherops (Teleostei, Alepocephalidae) from the Arabian Sea.

Abstract

L'espèce Aulastomatomorpha phospherops n'est connue que par quatre spécimens, dont seulement deux sont accessibles dans une collection muséale. La récolte d'un cinquième spécimen très bien conservé, au large d'Oman, dans la mer d'Arabie, permet de procéder à des comptages et à des mesures sur un nouveau spécimen de ce genre monospécifique très rare. Dans la présente note, nous donnons toutes les caractéristiques méristiques et morphométriques ichtyologiques pertinentes de ce spécimen et les comparons avec celles des autres spécimens connus. Nos données concordent avec la description à'Aulastomatomorpha phospherops, et elles corroborent la synonymie avec A. caeruleiceps de façon intéressante car le lieu de collecte était proche de la localité type de cette seconde espèce.
