Abstract
This study analyzes the interventions of clinical nutrition support pharmacists in hospitalized cancer patients undergoing bone marrow transplant (BMT) at a comprehensive cancer center. A retrospective review of 1,418 nutrition-related pharmacist interventions from 2020 to 2022 showed a 92% physician acceptance rate, with the most common intervention being the initiation of mineral and vitamin use. The study highlights the integral role of nutrition support pharmacists in managing specialized nutrition therapies, including parenteral and enteral nutrition, for this vulnerable patient population. It also identifies the need for further research to address barriers to implementing nutrition support pharmacy services and to optimize these practices across different healthcare settings and patient groups.
