Abstract
The article focuses on recent developments in the European and Asian telecommunications sectors and cybersecurity threats. Dutch telecom operator Odido, owned by Apax Partners and Warburg Pincus, is reportedly reviving plans for an initial public offering (IPO) potentially valuing the company at around €7 billion and raising €1.1 billion, after shelving a previous attempt in 2025. Norwegian telecom group Telenor is exiting the Thai market by selling its 30.3% stake in True Corporation for $3.9 billion, leaving it with two major Asian holdings in Bangladesh and Malaysia. The UK's National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) warns of ongoing Russian state-backed distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks targeting critical infrastructure and public sector organizations, urging improved defenses. Additionally, Telekom Srbija is upgrading cross-border fiber links with Bosnia and Herzegovina using Ciena technology to enhance capacity, while Ericsson plans to cut 1,600 jobs in Sweden to maintain competitiveness.
