Abstract
Rosalynn Carter, the former US first lady, has passed away at the age of 96. She was known for her activism and groundbreaking role as a first lady, attending her husband's Cabinet meetings and leading efforts to improve care for the mentally ill. Carter died peacefully at her home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by her family.
