Abstract

This article examines the application of a mixed qualitative and quantitative ethnographic methodology to create a documentary podcast series titled *Icónicas del pueblo* ("Iconic women of the village"), focusing on rural women in Málaga, Andalusia, Spain. The research combines participant observation in focus groups with semantic analysis using the latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) model on transcripts from sixteen in-depth interviews, revealing key themes such as gender roles, cultural transmission, empowerment, and the challenges of rural life. The findings informed the podcast’s narrative structure, emphasizing personal development, community, tradition, and resilience, and were validated through positive feedback from rural women listeners. This experimental approach aims to provide a replicable framework for creators and researchers in sound and anthropological studies to represent marginalized rural communities authentically.
