Abstract

The article explores the rise of a new tech ideology called "effective accelerationism" (e/acc) and its growing popularity among technologists. E/acc advocates for more ideas, growth, competition, and action in the tech world, challenging the prevailing concerns about the risks posed by the industry. It discusses the shift in the tech industry towards a focus on tangible and meaningful change, driven by factors such as a belief that America is no longer valuing technological progress and innovation. Tech workers are now organizing and supporting political campaigns and initiatives that prioritize outcomes and address societal issues. The emergence of the e/acc movement reflects a cultural shift among tech builders who want to contribute to society and be seen as heroes. [Extracted from the article]
