Abstract
This text focuses on Paloma Duong's *Portable Postsocialisms: New Cuban Mediascape after the End of History*, which analyzes Cuba's unique postsocialist condition through its evolving cultural and media landscapes. The book explores how Cuba's political and economic responses to the collapse of global socialism, alongside digital media proliferation and informal economies, create hybrid spaces that challenge inherited frameworks of socialism and capitalism. Duong examines diverse cultural expressions—including travel narratives, music, digital media, and informal networks—to reveal how Cuban postsocialism intersects with global capitalist processes while maintaining distinct local dynamics. The work highlights the role of digital infrastructures and media practices in shaping competing imaginaries of change, continuity, and identity within Cuba's complex postsocialist moment.
