Abstract
The United States Department of the Interior has issued Class III gaming procedures for five Tribes in California under the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). The Tribes, including the Blue Lake Rancheria and the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians, will be able to regulate their own Las Vegas-style gaming, such as slot machines and casino games, with oversight from the National Indian Gaming Commission. These procedures exclude the state of California from any regulatory or oversight role. This development follows a similar situation with the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians, who withdrew from California's oversight of their gaming operations in 2022. [Extracted from the article]
