Abstract

An interview with Amir Omar, the mayor in Richardson, Texas who served two terms as a city council member, from 2009 to 2013 and perhaps best known for his Tree the Town campaign. Omar discusses whether voters are becoming more receptive to candidates from immigrant or Muslim backgrounds, the changes between 2013 and 2025 in the city, and the most pressing concerns of his constituents.
