Abstract
The article focuses on dealing with maternal health and child welfare in the U.S. Topics discussed include postpartum challenges that can threaten the mother-child dyad and place them at increased risk of child welfare system involvement, the most prominent reasons for a baby's removal from their parents, substance use disorder (SUD) services to keep parents and their babies together safely including economic and concrete supports, community-based workers, and plans of self care (POSC).
