Abstract

Silicon Valley is being influenced by a new ideology called "effective accelerationism" that argues for the moral goodness of profit-driven technological innovation. Adherents of this ideology believe that the development of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, should be accelerated without any impediments. However, critics argue that this ideology ignores existing solutions to societal problems and fails to consider the role of humans in the future it envisions. The origins of effective accelerationism can be traced back to the writings of Nick Land, a philosopher with far-right views, although its current proponents distance themselves from him. Despite its intellectual hollowness, e/acc is gaining popularity among tech industry figures. [Extracted from the article]
