Abstract
The article discusses the development and evaluation of a nonpartisan voter information chatbot designed to assist voters in the 2024 U.S. general election. In a preregistered experiment involving 2,474 eligible voters from California and Texas, participants who used the chatbot rated its information as trustworthy and unbiased, and reported higher intentions to vote and more positive feelings toward opposing party supporters. Additionally, a national survey indicated that a significant portion of U.S. adults are open to using AI for voter information, although concerns about accuracy and bias persist. The findings suggest that AI voter guides based on nonpartisan sources could be beneficial and widely accepted, emphasizing the need for transparency and independent evaluation.
