Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between capitalism and democracy and how it is impacting trust in democratic institutions worldwide. The first book reviewed, "The crisis of democratic capitalism" by Martin Wolf, argues that capitalism and democracy are intertwined, but tensions have arisen due to factors such as financialization and economic inequality. The second book, "Crack-up capitalism" by Quinn Slobodian, focuses on the creation of economic zones that operate outside of democratic control, highlighting the anti-democratic tendencies of some market-oriented projects. Both books provide valuable insights into the challenges facing democracy in the context of global capitalism. [Extracted from the article]
