Abstract
This article discusses the issue of state capture in South Africa, which has been a topic of public debate for nearly a decade. The article argues that state capture involves a predatory network that infiltrated public institutions to enrich a criminal group, and it goes beyond blaming former president Jacob Zuma for the actions of the Gupta family. The article also explores government corruption at local and provincial levels, highlighting how factions within the African National Congress (ANC) captured municipalities and provinces for personal gain. It further examines the national manifestation of state capture and its socio-economic impact, as well as the influence of multinational arms corporations on South African procurement policies. The article concludes by acknowledging the complexity of the issue and the need for further comparative analysis. [Extracted from the article]
