Abstract

This article explores the deep connection between humans and nature, emphasising how modern disconnection from the Earth contributes to ecological and personal crises. Drawing from myths, Indigenous wisdom and rites of passage, it highlights the transformative power of wild land-based experiences in fostering maturity,self-knowledge and communal healing.Through personal narrative and reflection, the author illustrates how deliberate separation and reconnection, such as wilderness rites, help individuals grieve, grow and align with the wider web of life. Stories, humility and grief are key themes, with a call for renewed, embodied education that reconnects people to nature and their‘discerning hearts’. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
