Abstract
This article explores the role of India's Generation Z in shaping the country's future. With major changes occurring in the past five years, such as the revocation of Article 370 and the impact of COVID-19, the country's youth will have a significant influence on the direction India takes. Interviews with young adults reveal diverse perspectives and challenges, including political and social issues, unemployment, and economic inequality. While some young people engage in political protest and demand change, others support the government and believe in Prime Minister Modi's ability to bring about positive change. However, India's youth face obstacles to social and economic mobility, including a shrinking job market and high unemployment rates. The article highlights the frustrations and challenges faced by job seekers, particularly young people, who often resort to low-paid casual work or self-employment. The experiences of gig workers, like Mithun Kumar, are discussed, emphasizing the lack of stability and security in such jobs. The article also addresses the additional barriers and discrimination faced by young women in education and employment. The political landscape and the role of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in addressing these issues are explored, with the article concluding that the electoral choices of women and marginalized communities may carry more weight in the future.
