Abstract

REGULARSAt 8:46am on 11 September 2001, an American Airlines plane flew into the side of the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Seventeen minutes later, a second plane crashed into the South Tower. Both aircraft, and a further two, had been seized by hijackers associated with the al-Qaeda terrorist group. The third plane was deliberately crashed into the Pentagon in Washington DC, while the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers fought back in an attempt to regain control of the aircraft from the hijackers. In total, 2,997 people died on 9/11, making it the deadliest terror attack in American history. [Extracted from the article]
