Abstract
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has issued notices to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and the Congress regarding a plea to ban caste-based rallies. The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 10 and has given the Union of India a final opportunity to file a reply. The court's order is in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed in 2013, which seeks to derecognize political parties that hold caste-based rallies, particularly during elections. The Election Commission and the state government have already filed their counter affidavits in the matter. [Extracted from the article]
