Abstract

The article "A Transnational History of Puerto Rico's National Liberation Struggles" explores the efforts of the Partido Nacionalista Puertorriqueño (PNPR) in the early twentieth century to seek independence for Puerto Rico through trans-American bonds of solidarity. The author, Margaret Power, highlights the support of various anti-imperialist allies across the Americas for the PNPR's liberation cause. Power's book emphasizes the role of women in the national liberation movement and sheds light on previously unexplored stories of heroines like Lolita Lebrón and Lamia Azize Mawad. The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the PNPR's struggle for independence, challenging traditional narratives and inviting further research on Puerto Rican nationalism and anti-imperialism in the Americas.
