Abstract
The International Crisis Group CrisisWatch report highlights ongoing security challenges in Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. In Colombia, clashes between armed groups have led to a deteriorating security situation, with many municipalities under active conflict warnings. In Ecuador, a state of exception was renewed amid protests over alleged abductions and killings by security forces, while in Venezuela, the presidential inauguration of Nicolás Maduro faced opposition and strained relations with Argentina. Indigenous groups in the Amazon region protested the construction of a mega-jail in Ecuador, while organized crime expanded across the Brazilian Amazon, exacerbating environmental destruction.
