Abstract
This article focuses on establishing a rapid, simple, and low-cost high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) method for determining five coumarin components—isoimperatorin, imperatorin, oxypeucedanin, xanthotoxol, and byakangelicin—in Angelica dahurica, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. Using solvent extraction and optimized mobile phase conditions (petroleum ether-ethyl acetate, 3:2 v/v), the method achieved good separation, precision, repeatability, and recovery, with results validated by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The study highlights HPTLC as an effective alternative to more complex and costly chromatographic techniques for quality control and authenticity verification of A. dahurica in traditional Chinese medicine.
