Spatiotemporal pattern evolution analysis of ecological networks based on morphological spatial pattern analysis: a case study of Ningbo City, China.

Abstract
The article focuses on the spatiotemporal evolution and optimization of the ecological network in Ningbo City, China, amid rapid urban expansion from 2000 to 2020. Using morphological spatial pattern analysis (MSPA) and the minimum cumulative resistance (MCR) model, the study identified ecological sources, corridors, and nodes, revealing increased landscape fragmentation, reduced core ecological areas, and a decline in primary ecological corridors, particularly weakening north–south connectivity. An optimization strategy was proposed, adding ecological sources, corridors, nodes, and stepping stone patches to enhance landscape connectivity and ecosystem stability. The findings provide a scientific basis for balancing urban development with ecological protection in Ningbo and offer methodological insights applicable to rapidly urbanizing regions.
