Abstract
A federal court in Kano, Nigeria has annulled the reappointment of an influential traditional emir, sparking a dispute between two royals over the throne. This conflict, known as the "Game of Thrones," is part of a larger political battle between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party and the opposition New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) for control of Kano State. Traditional rulers in Nigeria hold significant cultural influence, despite having no constitutional powers. The court ruling recognized the dethroned predecessor as the rightful occupant of the throne, but the state government has appealed the decision. Tension has escalated in the city, with both royals residing in heavily guarded palaces. [Extracted from the article]
