Abstract
The article examines the long history of U.S. government policies aimed at eroding Native American sovereignty, culture, and autonomy under the guise of granting them equal rights. It highlights how the Bureau of Indian Affairs, alongside legislative and judicial actions, systematically imposed forced assimilation and economic dispossession. Topics include government control over Native American affairs, the role of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the erosion of tribal sovereignty.
