Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive overview of global social policy developments related to migration, refugees, and forced displacement from June to September 2024. It highlights the rising number of forcibly displaced persons—122.6 million as of mid-2024—driven by conflicts, human rights violations, and climate change, with low- and middle-income countries bearing the greatest burden. Key international organizations, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), International Labour Organization (ILO), World Bank, and International Monetary Fund (IMF), have addressed challenges such as social protection access, labor market integration, remittance flows, and human rights violations faced by migrants and refugees. The article also discusses intersecting issues in health, education, gender equality, environmental impacts on migration, and emerging regulatory efforts, emphasizing the need for enhanced international cooperation and inclusive policies to address the multifaceted consequences of displacement.
