Abstract

This short essay serves as an obituary of Alex Salmond (1954–2024) who died in October 2024. Salmond was leader of the SNP (1990–2000, 2004–14), of Alba (2021–24) and First Minister of Scotland (2007–14). The article situates both Salmond in history, and the role of History in shaping and understanding his political career. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
