Abstract

The article examines Iran's historical and contemporary significance as a regional power and its complex relationship with global superpowers. It traces Iran's evolution from a vast ancient empire to a modern nation of 92 million, highlighting key events such as the discovery of oil, the rise of Reza Khan Pahlavi, and the 1953 coup that overthrew Prime Minister Mossadegh. The narrative also discusses the impact of the Islamic Revolution led by Ruhollah Khomeini, the subsequent establishment of a theocratic regime, and Iran's pursuit of nuclear capabilities amid regional tensions. The article suggests that while there is a desire for regime change, the international community recognizes the importance of Iran as a nation-state. [Extracted from the article]
