Abstract
The article looks at the U.S. Supreme Court case Johnson v. McIntosh from the perspective of the history of the Piankashaw (Peeyankihšia) people's movement and community building in the Myaamionki homelands, along the Wabash River. Topics include the relationship between the Peeyankihšiaki and residents from the village of Vincennes, the land agreement with the Illinois-Wabash Company and the legality of the purchase of lands around the Waapaahšiki Siipiiwi, and Young Tobacco's land grant to George Rogers Clark.
