Abstract

The UN and its partners have launched the 2024 Humanitarian Response Plan for Somalia, requesting $1.6 billion to assist 5.2 million people in the country. Somalia has experienced multiple shocks, including drought, heavy rains, flooding, and mass displacement. Millions of people are suffering from hunger and malnutrition, with a significant number of children under five experiencing acute malnutrition. The plan aims to address these challenges and reduce vulnerability and future shocks. Additionally, there have been protests against forced evictions in Mogadishu, resulting in one death. The government is attempting to recover public land occupied during the civil war. [Extracted from the article]
