Abstract

The article discusses the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to reject an appeal by Live Nation Entertainment Inc. regarding a consumer antitrust lawsuit, allowing consumers to pursue claims of inflated ticket fees. The Supreme Court upheld a federal appeals court ruling that deemed Live Nation's arbitration agreements "unconscionable" under California law, preventing the company from forcing cases into arbitration. The lawsuit, which also involves Live Nation's Ticketmaster subsidiary, seeks class action status and is part of ongoing scrutiny of the companies following their merger in 2010. The Justice Department is currently pursuing a breakup of the company amid allegations of facilitating ticket scalping. [Extracted from the article]
