Abstract

"Displacement and erasure in Palestine: the politics of hope" is a book that explores the experiences of Palestinians and Israelis who resist Israeli settler-colonial rule despite state-led erasure and displacement projects. The book focuses on how Palestinians have created alternative archives to memorialize their history and resist the settler-colonial present. It examines the Judaization and annexation of areas like the port city of Jaffa, which erased Palestinian presence and normalized Israeli dominance. The book also discusses personal resistance practices, diverse perspectives, and the role of hope in achieving political change. Although it does not cover recent violence in Gaza, it provides insight into the key themes of the conflict. [Extracted from the article]
