Abstract
This article announces the forthcoming publication of *The Desert Edge: Flora of the Guaymas–Yaqui Region of Sonora, Mexico*, a comprehensive two-volume flora documenting 837 plant taxa of the southern Sonoran Desert. The work, produced by botanists Richard Stephen Felger, Susan Davis Carnahan, and José Jesús Sánchez-Escalante, combines decades of field research, detailed diagnostic keys, and hundreds of color images to fill a significant gap in knowledge of Mexican biodiversity. Covering 532,000 hectares including culturally important Yoeme (Yaqui) lands, the flora aims to support culturally inclusive conservation efforts and is freely accessible in digital form, particularly benefiting users in Mexico. This publication represents a major scientific and cultural contribution to understanding and preserving the unique plant diversity of this relatively undisturbed desert region.
