Abstract
The article discusses the US government's decision to reduce the required percentage of flight cuts for airlines at 40 major airports from 6% to 3%, easing operational pressures as the industry recovers from a recent government shutdown. This change, effective Saturday, follows concerns about air traffic controller staffing and safety, which were exacerbated during the shutdown. The Transportation Department and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) attributed the adjustment to improvements in controller staffing levels. Despite this, there are calls from Congressional Democrats for the original safety data and risk assessments that informed the flight reduction decisions, which have not been publicly disclosed.
