Abstract

The main focus of the article is Ali Bhagat's work, *Governing the Displaced*, which critiques the framing of displacement as a crisis within contemporary capitalism. Bhagat argues that this perspective obscures the ongoing realities of forced displacement, which are better understood through the lens of systemic issues such as exploitation, inequality, and racial violence. He examines the experiences of refugees in France and Kenya, highlighting how neoliberal policies and societal attitudes contribute to their marginalization and survival struggles. The work integrates various theoretical frameworks to challenge dominant narratives about refugees and calls for a broader understanding of displacement that transcends simplistic binaries of citizen and noncitizen.
