Abstract
Senator Joe Manchin has introduced a permitting reform plan that would require the Energy Department to make decisions on liquefied natural gas export projects within 90 days. The legislation, co-sponsored by Senator John Barrasso, aims to expedite project approvals and change permitting processes. However, it is unlikely to become law in its current form. The bill also includes new limits on federal agency timelines for project decisions, annual lease sales for offshore wind and oil projects, and expedited approval of electric transmission lines. Manchin has been critical of the Biden administration's pause on LNG export approvals. [Extracted from the article]
