Research Shows That Organizations Benefit When Employees Take Sabbaticals.

Abstract
The article presents the findings of a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management regarding the effect of sabbatical leave on employee attitudes and organizational performance. Researchers surveyed university professors and leaders of nonprofit organizations and found that extended leave benefited both employee well-being and organizational success in both the short-term and long-term. The author offers an example of an organizational stress-test with the unique vacation policy of financial advice company, the Motley Fool.
