Abstract

This article examines the impact of recent anti-Asian hate and violence on Asian American social workers, clients, and communities, highlighting their underrepresentation in the U.S. social work profession relative to their population size. It identifies gaps in social work education and training regarding Asian American histories and experiences, as well as challenges faced by Asian American social workers in workplace environments lacking support and representation. The study emphasizes the need for enhanced culturally informed curricula, improved agency practices, and expanded advocacy and coalition-building efforts that include cross-racial solidarity to address anti-Asian racism effectively. Limitations of the study include a small, regionally and ethnically limited sample, underscoring the need for broader research on diverse Asian American social workers' experiences.
