Abstract

The text centers on the experiences and struggles of Guyanese and Indo-Caribbean communities, highlighting themes of cultural preservation, colonial exploitation, indentured servitude, immigration challenges, and systemic oppression. It reflects on the historical trauma of forced labor in plantations ("Kalapani"), the ongoing impact of colonial legacies ("Brecka" and "Babylon"), and contemporary issues such as immigration enforcement and racialized policing. The work also expresses resilience through cultural expression, collective resistance, and calls for social justice, emphasizing education, organization, and solidarity as means to overcome oppression.
