Abstract
This article focuses on food insecurity among Asian Americans in the United States, highlighting significant gaps in research and data disaggregation by Asian-origin groups. It reveals that food insecurity prevalence varies widely among different Asian subgroups, with Southeast Asian communities such as Filipino and Vietnamese populations often experiencing higher rates than East Asian groups. Barriers to participation in food assistance programs like SNAP and WIC differ across these groups and are influenced by factors including language proficiency, acculturation, and immigration status. The review underscores the need for culturally tailored interventions, improved data collection in multiple Asian languages, and greater community engagement to better understand and address food insecurity within diverse Asian American populations.
