Abstract
The Commerce Department's Office of Ocean Exploration and Research is accepting applications for ocean exploration-related projects under two themes: Ocean Exploration and Maritime Heritage. The deadline for pre-proposals is May 30, 2024, and full proposals must be submitted by October 3, 2024. Approximately $3 million is available for four to eight awards ranging from $50,000 to $1 million for projects lasting one or two years. Eligible applicants include colleges and universities, for-profit organizations, nonprofit organizations, government entities, and federal agencies. Ocean Exploration proposals should focus on exploring unknown or poorly known ocean areas, processes, or resources in waters deeper than 200 meters or in tropical mesophotic environments. Maritime Heritage proposals should address the exploration of significant maritime heritage resources to enhance our understanding of the past and inform management and preservation decisions.
