Abstract

The article focuses on OMV's establishment of a 140-megawatt green hydrogen plant in Bruck an der Leitha, which will be one of Europe's largest electrolysis facilities and the largest in Austria and South-Eastern Europe. Set to begin operations by the end of 2027, the plant aims to produce up to 23,000 tons of renewable hydrogen annually, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions at OMV's Schwechat refinery. The project, delivered through an EPC arrangement led by Siemens Energy, includes a dedicated hydrogen pipeline to streamline production and integration with existing refinery operations. This initiative aligns with European decarbonization goals and positions OMV to advance its Strategy 2030 objectives for low-carbon energy solutions. [Extracted from the article]
