European Trader to Supply Gas to Pro-Russian Moldova Area.

Abstract

MET Gas and Energy Marketing will supply gas to Moldova's pro-Russian region of Transnistria after the enclave rejected further European Union assistance due to a requirement to increase consumer tariffs. The region, which faced an energy crisis with rolling blackouts after a halt in Russian gas flows, will receive gas from a European trader starting on February 13. The gas trader will be paid by JNX General Trading LLC, and the gas will be forwarded to Transnistria through Moldova. Moldova's prime minister expressed concerns about the long-term sustainability of this solution, while the leader of Transnistria thanked Russia for providing a loan to finance gas purchases.
