Abstract
The article focuses on the Czech Republic's plans to extend the operating life of the Dukovany nuclear power station into the mid-2060s, based on safety analyses indicating the plant's four reactors can run for up to 80 years. Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlicek and CEZ AS, the power utility managing Dukovany, view this extension as feasible with ongoing investment and safety evaluations. The country, with limited wind and solar resources, aims to use nuclear energy to reduce fossil fuel dependence. Additionally, the government plans to add new reactors at Dukovany, with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. selected to build two units expected to begin operation by 2036. [Extracted from the article]
