Abstract
The article focuses on the resumption of production at Israel's largest gas field, Leviathan, after a 33-day shutdown caused by the Iran war. Operated by Chevron Corp. and with a 45% stake held by Newmed Energy LP, Leviathan supplies natural gas to both Israel and Egypt, where the cutoff had led to energy rationing and increased LNG imports. The shutdown, ordered by Israel as a security measure, occurred amid regional tensions and attacks affecting energy infrastructure in the Middle East. Newmed Energy expects the stoppage to have no significant impact on 2026 cash flow and is exploring compensation from the state. Meanwhile, another Israeli gas field, Karish, operated by Energean Plc, remains closed. [Extracted from the article]
