Abstract
The article highlights significant developments in the global climate fight, particularly the rise of renewable energy sources, with solar and wind power surpassing coal as the leading source of electricity worldwide in the first half of 2025. Solar energy has become increasingly affordable, with notable adoption in countries like Pakistan, where it accounts for 25% of utility electricity. The European Union also saw solar become its largest electricity source, while China significantly increased its solar capacity. In the United States, solar and wind made up 88% of new electrical generating capacity in early 2025, indicating a growing trend towards renewable energy despite political support for fossil fuels.
