Abstract
The article focuses on Hibiscus Petroleum, a Malaysian independent oil and gas company, as it embarks on its first gas venture by acquiring operatorship of the Maharaja Lela Jamulam (MLJ) gas field offshore Brunei Darussalam. The acquisition is expected to enhance Hibiscus's production profile, increasing the percentage of gas in its daily output and supporting its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The MLJ field, which currently accounts for 6% of Brunei's total gas production, presents opportunities for further investment and development, particularly in extending the field's life and increasing recoverable reserves. Hibiscus aims to collaborate with local service providers while contributing to the region's energy stability and transitioning towards cleaner energy sources. [Extracted from the article]
